Bouquets to Art 2012… The de Young Museum San Francisco

Yes it is March and that means that the museum in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco is going to the Flowers, as designers come in with their floral arrangements in order to replicate and compliment the works of art in the museums galleries.

It is even  incredible that they do this at all, as with my working with a museum in the last few years,  I have learned that live plant material such as bouquets for decoration and for events is not the best practice. The plant materials brings foreign matter into a finely tuned environment. The air exchange tries to keep the air in the museum display rooms clean and clear of even these tiny molecules of pollen and even the gasses that the plants emit in their respiration process sends the carefully managed gallery atmosphere off balance.

But for 5 days this coming week, Wednesday, March 14th to Sunday the 18th, at the deYoung, flower displays, flower sculpture and flower scenes, depicting a scene, sometimes mirroring the color of a painting, will be all over the museums galleries. It is a celebration of the art spirit!

I might be away skiing for a few days. the season’s close is a month away and this would be my last opportunity and I haven’t gotten many day in this year… But the debate in my head is a few more runs of skiing or this fun Museum Garden Party: The Bouquets to ART!
