BEER CAN CHICKEN

Ingredients:
  • 1 3-4 lb whole chicken
  • 1 can of beer
  • 2 TBS kosher salt
  • 1 TBS black pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 TBS brown sugar 
Directions:
  • Preheat grill to medium heat (about 250)
  • Remove innards from chicken and discard
  • Rinse the chicken in cavity and outside, pat dry with paper towels
  • Combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, and brown sugar to create a rub
  • Apply rub to chicken all over including inside the cavity
  • Open beer can and discard half the beer
  • Insert beer can into cavity 
  • Balance chicken on grill with legs positioned like a tripod 
  • With grill cover closed cook until done about 3 hours or meat thermometer reaches 180 dgrees
  • Let rest 10 minutes remove can and serve
