Hot Buttered Rum

Ingredients:
  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 TBSP honey
  • 1 TBSP rum extract
  • 1 TBSP vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon 
  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream, softened (optional)
  • Light or Dark Rum (optional)
Directions:

Mix all ingredients together until well blended,  My friend Dee used to make many batches with the ice cream and store in plastic food containers in the freezer.  At Christmas, she would make up recipe cards, attach them with a bow and deliver the recipe to friends with a bottle of rum.  For your own use, store, well sealed, in fridge or freezer.  When making drinks, pour 1and1/2 ounces rum into a mug. Add a heaping spoonful of the recipe and fill with hot water. Stir well.  Delicious, you can top with a dollop of whipped cream or a sprinkle of nutmeg if you wish.
